FC CLACTON were unable to capitalise on their chances after losing 4-0 to Buckhurst Hill in the Essex Senior League, writes JOSEPH BROWN.
The match started energetically at the Rush Green Bowl, with both sides creating chances in the opening ten minutes.
FC Clacton sent a free-kick into the box, but the header went just wide.
Buckhurst Hill responded by breaking through the defence, only to be denied by a timely tackle from Clacton's captain.
However, Buckhurst Hill took the lead when a ball over the top was played down the right, leading to Shaquel Foyewa powering in.
Clacton pushed forward, winning another free-kick that forced a save from the Buckhurst Hill keeper.
A long-range shot narrowly missing the target for the visitors, while FC Clacton nearly equalised when a deflected cross hit the post and was cleared off the line, with players and fans insisting the ball had crossed.
Clacton continued to threaten, but an offside flag stopped one promising attack.
They caught Buckhurst Hill off guard again, this time setting up Emmanuel Ikwuegbu, whose shot was saved.
But the visitors doubled their lead when a cross from the left was met by Archie Hammond.
And Buckhurst Hill made it 3-0 from a near-post header from a corner, with Clacton players feeling the keeper was unfairly blocked.
Clacton's David Ogbechie and Glori Longi were both booked, and despite the hosts' continued pressure, they couldn't find the net.
After several substitutions, Clacton had a golden chance to pull one back, but Buckhurst Hill's defence stood firm.
Buckhurst sealed victory through George Thompson, who slotted the ball into the bottom corner.
Clacton keeper Josh Fowler made a great save late on to deny a fifth goal, as the hosts were beaten.
Clacton showed determination and were arguably the better side for long stretches but couldn’t capitalise on their chances.
Jordan Rock, James Letts, and Tyrese Miller stood out as top performers for the Seasiders, despite the heavy defeat.
