A CLACTON man will be representing the UK in a huge clash with boxers from the United States.
Arnie Dawson, 21, is jetting off to Texas on October 5 for a major boxing tournament.
He is taking part in the FightZone Transatlantic Clash between seven boxers from the UK and seven from the US to see which country comes out on top.
Arnie, who has been boxing since he was 11 years old, said: "It's an honour and a privilege to go out there and compete as this is my fourth professional fight and it's a cool thing to be able to say I've done.
"It's really cool to be able to say I am competing in Texas alongside other pro UK boxers and US boxers because that is an experience in itself.
"Each of us have will have our own opponents which we will one by one compete against to see which team comes out on top.
"Not many people can say they have done this and I feel proud to be able to take part."
Gareth Bayford has been training Arnie for five years with Seconds Out Gym, in Brunel Road, Clacton, and is "immensely proud" to have been with him through his boxing career.
"I'm so proud of Arnie," he said. "I've trained him for five years since he was an amateur and his journey has been through Covid but we have been coming out on top.
"He was given the opportunity to fight alongside professional boxers from the UK and the US out in Texas and we were lucky enough to be selected.
"No one one in the local area has had an opportunity like this before.
"It is a very unique sport - it's not like football as there are so many young people interested in that sport."
