FC Clacton Knights' walking football team turned out a series of promising performances ahead of their trip to Portugal for the Eurocopa Championship.
Their latest matches in the North Essex Walking Football Alliance League saw them demonstrate excellent form at the leisure centre in Clacton before their upcoming international games.
Knights A, hosting players Brooks, Ansell, Pentney, Fitzgerald, Burge, Lorimer, Marshall, Cronin, and Francis, maintained an impressive unbeaten record despite several draws, notably a 0-0 stalemate against Foxash.
Ansell, also part of Knights A team, deservedly clinched the Man of the Match accolade during an eventful match against Alresford which saw the team sail through with a 2-0 victory.
A keen eye will be kept on striker Smith, who's expected to make an impactful return after overcoming an injury.
Knights B – with a line-up including Smith, Lamb, Denney, Worsley, Dunsdon, Keen, Burfoot, McClean and Hughes - equally held their ground.
Their admirable performance against last year's champions Stanway elicited praise, with Hughes, the new signing, dominating in midfield.
There was no shortage of thrills, notably the last-minute tie-breaker from Dunsdon against Brightlingsea B, which rewarded the knights with a well-deserved point.
Dave Denney proudly walked away as the Man of the Match. The anticipation runs high as the promising striker Paul Holloway is expected to join for the rest of the season.
The next round of fixtures takes place on May 18 at Foxash, where an intriguing clash between both Knights' teams awaits.
