FRINTON Golf Club men’s captain Malcolm King and lady captain Tracey Taylor hosted the final event of their year, the Captains’ Swan Song greensomes.
Twenty-eight pairs vied for two categories of prizes and it was a good day for the Vaughan family.
Two pairs of men came in with the highest score of 42 stableford points, with Joe Bushell and Stephen Vaughan winning on countback.
Chris Hemingway and Nigel Anderson were awarded second place.
Neil Macrae-Smith and Chris Taylor placed third, with 40 points.
In the mixed/ladies’ category, John and Sheran Harding were in first place, with 39 points.
Junior captain Claire Vaughan and her partner, Lily Taylor, finished second with 38.
Lady vice-captain Angela Vaughan and men’s vice-captain Peter Webster were third with 35.
The weather wasn’t so kind to the ladies when eight pairs of ladies played a stableford foursomes. Lady captain Taylor and partner Ginny Richardson showed their mettle, winning with 31 points.
They were way out in front of the rest of the field.
Two pairs finished with 24 points and Audrey Joshua and Jan Wright were second on countback, ahead of Lyn Lawrence and Caroline Gard.
Finally, there was a Friday stableford this week, with two men coming out on top with 38 points.
Simon Parks was awarded first place on countback ahead of Hamish Stubbs.
Bill Smith was third with a close 37.
Frinton’s ladies vied for the Holloway Bowl on Saturday, a medal with a handicap limit of 35.
Gard won it with a 74 nett.
Claire Vaughan was in second place with 77 nett and also had the lowest gross score.
Two players finished with 82 nett, but third place was awarded to Jan McLellan on countback, ahead of Richardson.
