SEVENTY of Clacton Golf Club’s seniors battled windy conditions to take part in a nine-hole stableford, which took place before their AGM.
John Stuck took top spot with 24 points.
Seniors captain Joe Middleton then welcomed more than 80 members to the annual meeting, which began with the presentation of trophies to all 2015 winners.
The captain then remembered two members who had passed away – Alan Wiggins MBE and Peter Reading.
Both were long-time and much-respected members of the Clacton club.
Secretary Don Dunham read the minutes and gave his report.
Treasurer Bob Seggie then reported that the seniors had had another successful year.
Middleton thanked the 144 seniors that had taken part in 68 competitions.
He was also pleased to announce that his charity had raised £3,350.
It was then time to elect the committee for 2016.
Tony Burnside, who had been vice-captain, will take over as captain and received his jacket, tie and tankard.
John Kemp will be vice-captain, Dunham secretary and Seggie treasurer, alongside fellow committee members Ray Fage, John Willson and Rick Hale.
Middleton will serve as immediate past captain.
Meanwhile, Clacton’s ladies’ section held an irons-only stableford on Tuesday morning.
Sandy Cocker was first, with 38 points. In second was Brenda Lord, with 31, and in third, with 30, was Chris Crossfield.
