A SPECIAL cheque presentation took place at Clacton Golf Club.
Past ladies’ captain Julia Hewett’s chosen charity for her year in office was SENSE.
She welcomed Ruth Andoh-Baxter, the charity’s community fundraising manager, who explained that the organisation has been working with deaf-blind children and their families for the past 60 years.
Hewett said how pleased she was that the club’s ladies had managed to raise a grand total of £2,174.
Meanwhile, Clacton’s ladies played their singles stableford.
The winner was Anita Davey, with 24 stableford points, and in second was Brenda Lord, with 22.
In third place was Kath Sinnott, with 20.
On Sunday morning Clacton’s men played their sixth Winter Top Dogs event.
This week’s winners were Gary Lee and vice-captain Nick Smith, returning an excellent bogey round of plus seven, on countback from second-place Adam Powell and Cliff Cullen.
In third were Dave Reid and Barry Iungius, with plus six, on countback from fourth-placed Simon Barns and Steve Yates.
