FRINTON Golf Club’s men competed in a stableford on Saturday, incorporating the Past Captain’s Trophy.
Most players managed to finish before the heavy rain came in.
The silverware went to Gavin Cowell, who was captain in 2000 and scored 37 points.
The winner of the stableford was Tom Scotto, with 39 points.
Second place went to Steve Davies, who scored 38.
Meanwhile, Frinton’s ladies played their October foursomes on Tuesday.
Although it was sunny, the crisp northerly wind made it feel much colder that it actually was and the scores reflected it, especially on the back nine.
Joan Stevenson and Audrey Joshua were the winners, with 32 points.
Second place went to Anthea Coffey and Yvonne Davies, with 31.
Linda Hayles and Bianca Best were awarded third place on countback, with 27 points, just ahead of lady captain and vice-captain Tracey Taylor and Angela Vaughan.
In the club’s “they have to be there to win it” lottery, Bryn Mickleburgh pocketed £850 in Friday’s draw.
The prize money started at £250 and increased £50 a week for the last 12 weeks, until a winner was present in the bar when the draw took place.
