THE men’s section at Frinton Golf Club played for the Jon Holder Memorial Salver.
This competition is a singles stableford over 18 holes, with a maximum handicap of 24, and Iain Banks won the trophy, on countback, with 39 points.
Daniel Nicholls was awarded second place.
There were three players with scores of 36, but third place went to Scotty Boyle on countback, ahead of vice-captain Peter Webster and Iain Quick.
Eighteen ladies braved torrential downpours to compete for three separate trophies.
All three competitions were stablefords, but the Veterans Cup is for ladies over the age of 60, the Vintage Cup for over-70s and the ten-hole Ancients Cup for over-75s.
Ginny Richardson won the Veterans Cup, with Margaret Dean taking the Vintage Cup and Jan McLellan winning the Ancients Cup.
Richardson had the best score for the stableford itself, with 34 points, while Michelle Lawson came in second with 31 points.
However, Lawson is too young to qualify for one of the trophies.
