THE Millers Barn CHAPS Society played a Texas Scramble.
However, the only way to separate the first three groups was by countback.
The winning group consisted of Doreen Brand, Tom Murphy and Peter Thurlow, playing off a combined handicap of 23.
They carded a round of 73-23-50.
The second group were Frank Warbey, Les Hamilton and Jeff Cripps, with a joint handicap of 22.
They carded 72-22-50.
The third group were Muriel Warbey, Dennis Bruce and Brian Bacon, with a joint handicap of 24.
They carded 74-24-50.
All three teams were only separated by countback on the last hole.
Meanwhile, the CHAPS played a round with a difference, as they were not allowed a driver in their bags.
This format caused a few problems at the start, until they got into the swing of things.
Once off the first tee, they all settled down to a morning of many ups and downs.
At the end of the round, the scores were all slightly higher than normal and the eventual winner was Frank Warbey, who carded an 85-18-67.
Second place went to Jeff Cripps, carding a 91-23-68.
Third place went to Alan Bacon, carding a 98-28-70.
The front nine winner was Ron Smith, with a nett 33, and the back nine winner was Cripps, with a nett 30.
