FRINTON Cricket Club have signed explosive batsman Michael Griggs.
The 30-year-old is joining the coastal club – promoted last season and preparing for their first year in the Gibbs Denley East Premier League – from Tendring neighbours Mistley.
He has followed Swans team-mate Kyran Young to Ashlyns Road.
And after completing the signing, delighted Frinton chairman of cricket Pat Patel described Griggs as the best English player he has ever seen not to have played for Essex or Suffolk.
“Michael is a very talented batsman,” he said. “For a number of years, I believe he’s been the best English batsman in the Two Counties Championship.
“And I’d go so far as to say he’s the best English player I’ve seen who hasn’t played for Essex or Suffolk.
“He’s such an explosive batsman, with so much natural talent.”
