3 T's
MEMBERS were delighted to see more than 40 guests arrive for the meeting last Friday. Roger Kennell gave an interesting afternoon showing and explaining his old postcards of Walton. Mrs Cull gave a vote of thanks.
Mrs Hobern reported that over the last four years more than £1,000 had been collected for various charities. This year, to date, members have collected over £200 for goats for Africa.
After tea and biscuits, Mrs Semple read from the Friendship book.
The next meeting will be on November 11, and a beetle drive will be held.
Gunfleet WI
THE October meeting was members’ evening. Maggie was president, Brenda read the minutes, there were two visitors. On November 19, the Institute will be holding a table top sale at Red Triangle Hall.
Two teams will be entered into the 2012 quiz. The Essex annual meeting will be held at Cliff Pavilion, Southend. Area spoke about Hyde Hall and decorating a Christmas tree. It is hoped to visit on December 7, bus £9, entrance £4. For the rest of the evening members helped to trimmings and cover present boxes for the tree.
After refreshments, the local witch arrived and told members about happenings around the Walton area over the past years. In time to get members into the Halloween mood.
The next meeting is the annual meeting.
