THE president opened the annual meeting. The secretary then read the minutes of the 2010 annual meeting, which were agreed, she then gave her yearly report. The treasurer presented the financial statement, followed by the president who gave her annual report.

The new committee were then elected comprising: Yvonne Barrell, Josie Chilver, Pam Grant, Eve Hickley, Rae Hunt, Elaine Link, Marion Rawlings, Kay Sadler, Rita Sharpe and Pat Willis. Rae Hunt was proposed as the new president by Edna Collins and seconded by Betty Blower. Elaine Link presented retiring president Pat Willis with a small gift as a thank you for her three successful years.

The Rose Bowl for most points in competitions was won by Marion Rawlings.

The minutes of last month’s meeting were then read followed by a report on the recent autumn county meeting, news of the forthcoming darts match on November 15; the Christmas party in December and the Christmas carol service to be held on December 7, in Alresford Church.

A birthday buttonhole was presented to Caroline Tottis.

The speaker, Margaret Brehaut, gave a fascinating insight into the Amish Community in Lancaster County. Her many patchwork quilts were delightful as were the dolls dressed in Amish costumes. Rita Sharpe thanked her on behalf of the meeting.

The competition for a piece of old lace was won by Josie Chilver with Pat Willis second and Christine Dykes won the raffle.

Join members next month in the village hall on November 9, at 7.45pm, when the speaker will be John Burrows his subject Voyage to Australia and New Zealand with 28 dogs and six cats, and the competition is A Christmas Card.
