Evening WI
PRESIDENT Betty Blower opened the June 8 meeting with the singing of Jerusalem and then welcoming members and guests from Alresford, Brightlingsea, Elmstead Market, Great Bentley, St Osyth and Wivenhoe WI’s.
After business was completed the speaker Janette Bright was introduced and we heard the fascinating history of the Foundling Hospital along with many photographs of the tokens left with the children. Mildred Garley thanked her on behalf of the meeting.
A delicious supper followed, which had been organised by Christine Dykes and helpers. Emma then gave an introduction to Zumba, active healthy dance routines with some of the members joining in.
A raffle was drawn and the results of a competition for an Old Fashioned Toy was won by Pat Mitchell with Patricia second.
Next month July 13, members meet at The Brewer’s Arms in Brightlingsea for a meal and game of darts.
