FOR the May meeting the speaker was Trudi Cooper, of the House of Colour, who gave a talk about Looking Good and Feeling Good, explaining that different shades and tones of colour improved our appearance and that colours were grouped in seasons. Sylvia Guyton gave the vote of thanks and Jan Holder read from the friendship book.
After tea and biscuits and the Grace the meeting ended at 4.15pm.
The next meeting is June 10, and is a strawberry tea and games in the Parish Church hall at 2.30pm.
Gunfleet WI
AT the May meeting, two resolutions were discussed, keeping libraries open at Essex and national level and against mass animal farming. The general vote was for the first resolution.
Brenda gave her report from the county meeting. There will be no calendar this time next year. The first speaker at the county meeting was from RHS via Hyde hall. WI members were asked to dress a Christmas trees. Gunfleet will be doing a tree. Members hope to visit Hyde hall on December 7.
The second speaker was Antonia Frazer, she is now a Dame. The competition was for an apron, 1st won by Chris.
Area gave out the date for a trip on June 22, sadly this outing has had to be cancelled. Members have been asked to bring their favourite recipe, cake or savoury, to be shared around with a cup of tea. The raffle was drawn.
President Dawn told everyone that two teams would be entered into the essex WI quiz on May 25, 7pm start.
