Evening WI
THE January meeting was a meal at the Plough Inn, Great Bentley, when 25 members and friends enjoyed a delicious meal together.

The next meeting is on February 9, at 7.30pm, in the village hall when Corinne will lead a bead jewellery workshop and the competition is What ever you make. New members are very welcome.

Parish Council
SAMANTHA Turner of Edwards Drive, was co-opted and welcomed on to the parish council at our December meeting.

The police have been invited to our next meeting to discuss speeding in the village, particularly in Church Road and Station Road.

There is one vacant allotment plot at the moment, call the parish clerk for more information.

Councillor John Sait is now in charge of hiring the tennis court. Norman Sage was thanked by the parish council for his work over many years at this job.

English Rural Housing Association: The affordable homes at Edwards Drive were finally ready for their tenants by December 2010. The contractors also cleared the raised beds in Clacton Road, so these can be replanted in the spring by the Thorrington in Bloom working party.

The council was made aware that this committee has seen members drop drastically in recent years. Two councillors will attend their next meeting to discuss the way forward.

ECC Mineral development sites: The consultation period finishes on February 17. The two sites at Thorrington Hall Farm were at present not defined as preferred sites. However, once objections to other sites have been analysed, Thorrington could move up the list. Individual objections from residents must be submitted to www.essex.gov.uk/MDD-consultation.
