Evening WI
THE president Pat Willis welcomed members to the annualmeeting. The financial statement was presented by treasurer Rita Sharpe, seconded by Josie Chilver and adopted. The president read her report which included thanks to all members of the committee and also to all WI members. The committee was re-elected en bloc. The Rose Bowl for obtaining the most points in competitions during the year was won by Josie Chilver. A birthday buttonhole was presented to Caroline Tottis.
Members discussed fundraising events for 2011.
A competition for a lace mat or doily was won by Yvonne Barrell with Marion Rawlings second; the raffle winner was Edna Collins.
The next meeting is on November 10 when Roy Waters will talk about Growing up in the Dutch Quarter. the competition is for an ‘autumn leaf picture’. Meet in Thorrington Village Hall at 7.45pm.
Parish Church
THERE will be a Barn Dance in Thorrington village hall on October 30 from 7.30pm. Tickets are £6 each and include light refreshments, bring own drinks. Call Marion on 01206 303048 or Rita on 01206 250806. There will be a raffle. All proceeds are for the church building fund.
