AT the meeting on April 14, Peter Mockford spoke to members about his life as a magistrate.
He explained how difficult it can be to decide on a sentence when the magistrates have to take many things into consideration. Members learned this for themselves when, during social time, he read out some real cases and asked us to decide what we would do. He also told some amusing stories.
The Denman Draw was made and Joan Sell was the lucky lady who will be able to go to the WI College for a course of her choice.
Tickets were on sale for the Spring Group Meeting on April 28 in Little Clacton Village Hall.
The competition, for a poem about the law, was won by Maureen Carter.
The next meeting, on May 12, is the birthday meeting. The competition is for a corsage of fresh flowers.
