PLANS for a new £2.8million sixth form centre at a college in Frinton have been recommended for approval.
Frinton and Walton Town Council welcomed plans for the centre at Tendring Technology College, in Rochford Way, but some councillors said the plans will only add to parking problems in the road.
Councillor David Evans said the two-storey, 1,350sq metre building would be an overdevelopment of the site and there would not be enough car parking spaces.
But councillor Mark Cossens said it was a “much needed facility”.
“This will give students a much better learning environment than is there already,” he said.
Last month, the school was told it was one of five colleges across the UK to share a £7.8 million pot of cash from the Learning and Skills Council, which would pay for the works.
The building, if it is given permission, will have to be completed within a year.
Tendring Council is set to make a decision on the application by June 16.
