Parish Church.
NEARLY 60 people enjoyed a celebration to mark the 25th anniversary of Robert Burns in Thorrington village hall on Saturday. The Haggis was ‘piped’ in and addressed by Brian Jolly in ‘Gaelic’ and a tot of whisky was drunk.
A meal of haggis, neeps and bashed spuds followed accompanied by appropriate music. After the meal guests enjoyed a time of Scottish dancing; which caused a great deal of laughter.
The ‘Immortal Memory’ was given by Betty Clydesdale who read poems together with Joan Harding. More music and dancing followed before the large raffle was drawn. Around £300 was raised for church funds. The evening was organised by Marion Rawlings.
