The closure date of the East of England Co-op store on Samson Road in Brightlingsea has been announced ahead of the Sainsbury takeover.
The work, which is due to be completed in 2025, has now been given a start date.
A notice has been put up outside the store to inform shoppers that it will be closed from Sunday, December 29.
The notice also states that all staff currently working at the store will be offered new roles at Sainsbury's.
