TWO Walton councillors have outlined their priorities for the town for the next year.

Councillors Ann Oxley and son Pierre have announced their key priorities for the coming year, with a focus on improving local amenities and boosting public safety.

Their plan, which features five main points, is designed to ensure Walton is a vibrant, safe and welcoming community.

The two councillors plan to ensure the new multi-use games area (MUGA) is operational and accessible to the public.

This facility is a space for residents of all ages to take part in sports and recreational activities.

Mrs Oxley said: "The MUGA is a vital part of our plan to promote physical activity and healthy living in the community.

"We will work to make sure it's open and ready for everyone to enjoy as soon as possible."

Securing year-round access to the public toilets is second on the list.

Mr Oxley said: "Access to clean and well-maintained public facilities is essential, especially in areas that attract high foot traffic.

"We will work to ensure that an additional toilet is accessible year-round to meet the needs of our residents and visitors."

The councillors are seeking to upgrade existing toilet facilities.

Mrs Oxley said: "We aim to secure the necessary funding to improve the condition and usability of our current public toilets. These improvements will ensure a more pleasant and hygienic environment for everyone."

Installing CCTV in key areas of Walton is fourth on the list to boost residents' and visitors' safety throughout the town.

Mr Oxley said: "CCTV can be an effective deterrent against crime and anti-social behaviour. We're working to find the right locations and secure funding for this important measure."

Finally, they are calling for the implementation of a public space protection order aimed at reducing anti-social behaviour.

Mrs Oxley said: "Addressing issues like street drinking and disruptive behaviour is essential for maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.

"We are committed to working with local authorities and law enforcement to put measures in place that will benefit the entire community."
