A FUN charity dog fete will be taking place in Clacton this month, raising money for a well-known animal welfare organisation.
Happy Tailwaggers is hosting a day full of fun doggy activities set to take place at the Great Clacton Community Hall, in Valley Road, on April 14.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to the National Animal Welfare Clacton, which provides rehoming, educational and practical support to animal lovers in the area.
Jamie Gibbons, one of the organisers for the fete, said: "This is the first of many events like this, we hope.
"We have some craft stalls, dog treat stalls, cakes, refreshments, tombola and a raffle in which one of our main prizes is a family of four ticket for All About Dogs in Chelmsford.
"This is a doggy photo competition where the winner will receive two free taster classes at Happy Tailwaggers obedience and agility."
As well as agility sessions, a photo competition and various stalls there will also be traditional carnival games modified to be played by dogs.
Jamie added: "Enrichment activities include a doggy version of Splat a Rat and a larger version of a 'Treat Tube Tower', plus we will host have-a-go agility where, if pre-booked, the dog will also receive a goody bag."
Dog owners can pre-book tickets for £5 or pay on the day for £6.
Everything at the event will be cash only.
Jamie said: "At the beginning of the year, we held a quiz night in aid of one of our members in order to raise funds for a heart operation for her beloved Mastiff – Monty.
"Monty is loved by all at the dog club and we raised over £300 from the quiz and £1,500 through other avenues too.
"All proceeds for this event go to the National Animal Welfare Clacton, we are a huge supporter of the work they do."
Happy Tailwaggers, formerly known as Tailwaggers Clacton, teaches obedience classes, helps owners socialise their dogs and gives advice on overcoming any problems they may have.
