A DRIVER has been taken to hospital following a 'serious crash' involving a car and a coach full of schoolchildren.
Police officers, firefighters, and paramedics are currently at the scene of an two-vehicle smash in Kirby Road in Walton.
The shocking incident is understood to have involved a car and a school coach carrying pupils from a Chelmsford school.

The driver of an overturned Fiat Punto has been taken to hospital and the road is currently closed to allow vehicle recovery.
Thankfully, none of the pupils have been injured and the school has been informed and is making arrangements to collect pupils from the scene.
Mark Platt, Frinton and Walton councillor for Essex County Council said: "I'd like to praise the emergency services, especially the fire brigade, for their swift response.
"I would also like to thank the local police officers for their recent work which took place on the same road."

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 10.15am with reports of a road traffic collision between a car and a bus on Kirby Road in Walton on the Naze.
"Three ambulances, two ambulance officer vehicles, two vehicles from the Hazardous Area Response Team and a response car from the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.
"Three patients, the driver of the car and the driver of the bus and an adult passenger, were transported to Colchester General Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
"The schoolchildren on the bus were all assessed on scene and able to be discharged."
