THE speaker for the May meeting was Colin Hopper, his illustrated talk on Paper Sculpture' was both fascinating and interesting. He showed many beautiful examples of his work which he had done over the years.
The competition for a paper doyley' was won by Pat Willis with Edna Collins second and the raffle winner was Diane Bell.

Parish Council.
AT the meeting on May 7, Jenny Cant was elected chairman and John Damant was elected vice-chairman. All councillors agreed to keep their current responsibilities, there is a vacancy for a councillor, if you are interested in becoming a councillor please contact the Nicky Robinson, on 01206 230979 .
Chris Moor spoke to us about the changes to the proposed affordable housing development. It is hoped a village meeting will be held in June, to show details of the plans and for people to learn how to register an interest in one of the properties.
The council has received a letter from Network Rail/TDC formally notifying us that there are going to be changes to the level crossing. Work will start in June and will take about ten weeks.
Good Companions.
AT the last meeting Les welcomed members and introduced David Padwick, who sang to us.
The last dinner, held on May 1 was a success, the next is June 19.
The outing to Canterbury last Wednesday was good except for an unfortunate incident when Vera Olden fell over and broke her wrist. Our next outing is the Thames River trip from Maidenhead on June 4.
There are still a few places left for the holiday and the Thursford Christmas Concert on December 3 .
