VOTERS in Tendring are being reminded to make sure they are ready to take part in the UK Parliamentary General election and local elections on Thursday.
Ian Davidson, acting returning officer for the Clacton Parliamentary Constituency and returning officer for the local elections, said: “We’re getting very close to polling day now, so we want to make sure that everyone knows how they can cast their vote and can easily take part.
“If anyone has any questions then there’s lots of information on how to vote at www.aboutmyvote.co.uk or they can call our team on 01255 686566 and we’ll be able to help.”
Mr Davidson added that the elections will be a chance for voters to have their say on the issues that affect them.
“It’s an exciting time, but we wouldn’t want anyone to miss out because they didn’t know what to expect on polling day,” he said.
“Polling stations are open from 7am to 10pm, so plan now when you’re going to cast your vote. Information on how to mark your ballot paper will be available inside the polling station.”
If you have a postal vote, make sure it is returned by 10pm on Thursday. If you have not had time to post it before polling day, then you can take it to the polling station on polling day and hand it in.
Postal votes that arrive after 10pm on May 7 will not be counted.
