A NEW multi-million pound seafront hotel has opened its doors in Clacton, creating more than 30 new jobs.
The new Premier Inn hotel has been under construction for several months in Marine Parade West.
It has now been completed and officially opened on Monday.
Manager Kristina Kerry said: “We are all really delighted to open up and get going at last. It is very exciting.
“We were originally hoping to open in February and recruited all the staff back in November, but it has given the team a chance to bond and get out into the community.”
Clacton girl Kristina started with Premier Inn four years ago as a part-time receptionist at a Colchester hotel and has risen through the ranks.
She is one of 34 staff members at the new Clacton hotel, with 22 of those local people taken on through the Job Centre.
The 66-room hotel has been created on the site once filled by the historic Waverley Hotel.
The new hotel was opened by Ukip candidate Douglas Carswell.
He said: “This is excellent for Clacton and it is a perfect example of Tendring Council planning committee getting it right for our town.
“It is wonderful to see so many jobs created and hopefully it will bring more people into Clacton.”
