THE death of a woman from Halstead at a caravan in Clacton is being treated as unexplained.
Police were called to Valley Farm Holiday Park, in Valley Road, at 11am on Monday.
A spokesman for Essex Police said officers were called following concerns for the welfare of the woman.
“Officers arrived and found the body of a woman who is believed to be in her 50s and from Halstead,” he said.
“A post mortem examination on was unable to ascertain a cause of death.
“As a result further toxicology tests will be carried out and those results are expected in January.
“At this stage the death is being treated as unexplained. A formal identification is expected to take place later this week.”
A 50-year-old man, from Halstead, was arrested at the scene in connection with the death and is currently being questioned at Clacton Police Station.
A spokesman for Park Resorts, which runs the Valley Farm Holiday Park site, said that following the summer season the park was not busy at the time of the incident.
“It is quiet on the park at the moment,” she said.
“The issue is being dealt with sensitively.”
