Frederick Colin Almond

Colin Almond 1932 2022 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Colin Almond on 22nd January 2022, following a brief stay in hospital after a fall in his home a week earlier. Despite his failing health and deteriorating eye-sight Colin continued to live in the house he and his muchwife Brenda built back in the 1950s. Colin was a very well known shooter; (possibly even a legend in his sport) and won numerous accolades during his 40 plus years of competing. Possibly his highest accolade being a Commonwealth Silver Medal in 1981. Colin and Brenda were active members of the Clacton Town Twinning Association and made many trips to Valence and Biberach in the 1980's and built many enduring friendships and did their bit to further the Town-Twinning ideals. Colin will be sorely missed by his family and friends and we will especially miss his legendary stories of life in Thorrington during the 2nd World War and beyond. Colin's funeral will take place at Thorrington Parish Church on March 3rd at 2pm, with a committal service at Colchester Crematorium at 3:30. Family flowers only please, with donations to St. Helena Hospice whose volunteers (Butterfly's) were a great support throughout his stay in hospital. https://www.dignityfunerals.co.uk/funeral-notices/ 22-01-2022-frederick-colin-almond/
