FEWSTER Phyllis Olive (née Shadick) Died peacefully in Colchester General Hospital, early morning of Saturday 15th August following a mercifully short illness. She had been fit and active until a couple of days before her death. Wife of Charles Hartas Fewster (deceased 1999). Survived by only Son, John Fewster. Phyllis was a telephone exchange operator at Frinton during WW2. Later in life she was a receptionist/secretary at Clacton Hospital, going on to work for various GP practices in the town. She was an early advocate of the 'keep fit' movement from the 1940s and kept this up well into her 90s. She would regularly go for long walks, especially along the seafront. She was still walking into town with vigour three days before her death. Phyllis had suffered with dementia during recent years, but with sensitive oversight and care from Allied Healthcare and Crossroads Care she was able to continue an independent life in her own home up to the end. Funeral at Colchester Crematorium, Mersea Road, Colchester, Essex, CO2 8RU on Thursday 10th September, 11.00am. Phyllis wished always to keep things small and simple, 'no fuss dear', and so would expect only immediate family but those who wish to attend will naturally be welcome. No flowers please, donations to R.N.L.I. (Clacton Lifeboat) c/o Lesley Barlow & Family, 98 Station Road, Clacton on Sea, Essex CO15 6AA 01255 222899
