HOLLAND FC are setting their sights on Thurlow Nunn League football and have officially applied for promotion from the Essex and Suffolk Border League.
Chairman Mark Sorrell lodged all the relevant paperwork before the deadline of December 31.
“We have applied and now have to wait for our move to be officially sanctioned by the FA,” said Sorrell.
“But we’re hopeful and it’s an exciting prospect.”
Holland’s last application to join the Thurlow Nunn League was turned down, despite a valiant appeal in front of the FA at Wembley Stadium.
They were not allowed to go up because of their ground-share with FC Clacton.
Teams can only go up if such an arrangement has been in place for a year – which it will have been, by the start of next season.
“The ground-share is going well and we’re grateful to Clacton,” said Sorrell.
“It’s nice when local clubs can work together, for the good of both senior and youth football in the area.”
Holland are sixth in the Border League premier division and won 4-1 in their Essex Premier Cup third-round tie on Saturday, against Cinque Port.
