A BID to create two holiday units out of metal ship containers has been turned down.
The proposal for Lee Wick Farm, in St Osyth, was put forward by Robert Clarke.
Tendring Council said it was a delicate balance between protecting the character and appearance of the countryside and looking to develop tourism in the district.
Officers had recommended approval but councillors refused the proposals.
Planning boss Carlo Guglielmi said: “Here we have two metal containers and they are out of keeping with what’s already there and the impact is too great.”
