FC CLACTON and Holland FC are set to ground-share next season.
The coastal neighbours look set to play on alternate Saturdays at the Rush Green Bowl.
The move has come about because Holland cannot play at Eastcliff next term, due to building work on the redundant Colchester Institute playing fields – part of their ground – off Gainsford Avenue.
They need to find a new base and now look set to share with Clacton for the 2015/16 season.
Seasiders co-owner Stephen Andrews confirmed that the clubs are in talks and such an arrangement is “likely to happen”.
And Holland chairman Mark Sorrell believes it would be a “great solution” to his club’s problem.
“We can support and promote each other and it means the public will get to watch football at the Bowl every Saturday,” he said.
“There will always be a rivalry between our clubs on the pitch.
“However, off the pitch, there’s no reason why we can’t work together and help each other out.
“It makes perfect sense, as far as I can see.”
It is thought the ground-share will happen regardless of whether Holland are successful in winning promotion from the Essex and Suffolk Border League to the Thurlow Nunn League.
Their initial application has been turned down, but they are appealing the decision.
